Andrew T Austin - founder of IEMT, Neurolinguist, Master NLP and Hypnotherapy

"Andy is a class of his own. I like him for his provocative style, humble and funny. His knowledge is absolutely huge. A huge, huge openess for people and even during lunchtime he explained to us issues very distant from IEMT. I was afraid that the training would be quite "technically-academic" and I was pleasantly surprised. Andrew is a hilarious guy."

Depression and Anxiety

It is not uncommon for a person with depression to have anxiety or for someone with anxiety to have a case of depression. In fact research has shown that these conditions can affect individuals at the same time. When we look at a person that suffers from depression and try to picture all the different indications that accompany it like, fatigue, uselessness, hopelessness, despair and just the inability to adjust to a normal life. We dare not think this person could also have a condition like anxiety.

Panic and fear do play large parts in a person suffering from depression. Anxiety can be a direct result of this condition. The loss of control the feeling the world is falling apart. These feelings can co exist with the feelings of depression and make the condition truly explosive.

Suffering from these conditions can also affect a person's ability to hold a job, to be in a normal relationship or function in today's society. Many people find that this condition is disabling, always in fear of having a panic attack and not knowing when or where it will take place.

Studies have shown that both are probably caused by a chemistry imbalance in the brain, we say probably because these facts have never been proven. Some scientists also say that not enough serotonin at the synapse of two brain cells is a large factor and that is where the medication is used to correct this condition.

When a person is suffering from anxiety, accompanied with depression, this can make for very troubling mood swings and can be hard on the individual and anyone caring for them. Some people don't have care providers and have to deal with the issues on their own, which makes recovery a constant battle.

The anxiety and depression condition makes a person unable in some cases to lead a normal life, which means small tasks like making sure to take their medication daily can be a very large ordeal. When these treatments are missed the medication levels in the system get lower and eventually out of control.

When this happens the person can become hospitalized to get what is called a medication correction. Lab work is done and med levels are checked. Once this is done the doctors can restore this individual to normal levels in a controlled environment. This is not to be taken lightly because when levels are severely out of control this person could fall into dissolution making any task undoable.

People that show both conditions; anxiety and depression, also have a higher rate of suicide. This makes treating these conditions with therapy and medication all the more important. This must be a daily routine for this person to start to feel as though they can join society and function as a normal human being would.

Anxiety and depression are not new, people deal with this every day, some days are good and others are not so good. Like any battle in life both of these conditions can be controlled. With the right treatments, diets, rest and therapy, these conditions will get better and more manageable over time.
